email & the internet
i so often complain of technology; however, i must say that i am thankful for the advent of the internet and email because i now have the opportunity to make new friends and keep in touch with them.
i have met people from the other side of the world whom i may never see, and that's okay. we have so much to learn from one another. why would i only want to limit myself to knowing those that live close by? i pray for peace in our world and how can i affect that change if i am unaware of how others live?
so, here's to friends near.... and far!

We have technology, finally, that for the first time in human history allows people to really maintain rich connections with much larger numbers of people. ~Pierre Omidyar

flashlights & candles
the lights went out the other night
in the entire neighborhood.
it was so dark, and so scary!!
thank goodness for the light
from my candle and my flashlight!

In the beginning there was nothing. God said, "Let there be light!" And there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better. ~Ellen DeGeneres

new books
i got a new book to read: Power vs Force: An Anatomy of Consciousness by Dr. David Hawkins. i'm not sure when i think i'll find the time to read it, but i'm gonna try!!
i love to read,
love it,
love it,
love it!
books are an opportunity for the mind to travel to distant shores, lead amazing adventures, discover romance, and a slew of just about anything one can dream up!! how could you not love it?!

I find television to be very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go in the other room and read a book. ~Groucho Marx

Tea
Mango Ceylon Black tea, to be exact, from Republic of Tea.
I've got a serious sore throat right now and it's nice and soothing to drink!

Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves - slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future. ~Thich Nat Hahn

Parijat
He plays such beautiful music. I came across Parijat on Myspace about a week ago. He categorizes his music as healing/easy listening and it certainly is that!
It is so relaxing and gentle and always keeps me in a calm mood when I listen to his CD. I downloaded his CD, titled Buddha Garden, from New Earth Records (http://www.newearthrecords.com/). I enjoy this CD, not only just for listening to throughout my day, but for practicing yoga and meditation. If you are like me, and enjoy beautiful, peaceful music that will help in allowing you to turn inward - Buddha Garden is for you!!!

Music is the wine which inspires one to new generative processes, and I am Bacchus who presses out this glorious wine for mankind and makes them spiritually drunken. ~Ludwig van Beethoven

having a brain!
Because I need it to process all of the wonderful information that I am learning during my yoga training... and through all of life's lessons, too! It's taking in A LOT of info that it hasn't had to do since my college days. Thank goodness it hasn't burst... not yet, anyway! :) Something one of my yoga teachers said this past weekend has really stuck with me, "You don't practice yoga, it practices you." Strangely enough, I'm finding that to be true little by little each day...

An educational system isn't worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but doesn't teach them how to make a life. ~Author Unknown
